Welcome to DSLR-Review, your online resource for camera reviews and a place to purchase DSLR cameras and lenses.
I grew up using 35mm film and a nice little Nikon SLR camera. For many years I was used to purchasing film, taking my photos, and then spending $10 a roll to get the film developed. I even used to take black and white photos and I developed and printed the photos myself. It was a costly hobby.
Now there are digital single lens reflex cameras, or DSLR cameras. These cameras are wonderful in that they take away the expense of film, the cost of processing that film, and you also get instant gratification. You do not need to wait a week to see what your pictures look like. These cameras have all the capabilities of the old SLR film cameras and they also add on many other functions that were not thought of even 10 years ago. The camera I own, the Nikon D-90, has full HD video recording capabilities.
Also, this camera uses interchangeable lenses like the old SLR cameras. This gives the amateur photographer a very powerful arrow in his quiver. You are never hamstrung by the limiting capabilities of the little pocket digital cameras. The little pocket cameras are fantastic for what they do, but buying a DSLR camera will give you more control over your photos. Photographers love control.
The mission of the DSLR-Review website.
DLSR-Review will be a complex website containing both reviews of cameras and the opportunity to purchase the cameras from my partner Amazon, one of the most trusted web sites on the planet. The reviews will be culled from many sources and I hope that people will submit their own reviews on products they use as well. I want DSLR-Review to be a one-top-shop for your digital camera needs. We will review DSLR cameras and we will also review a lot of products that a photographer needs with their cameras. We will be objective and honest with our opinions. Other people may have different opinions so please do your homework.
The idea for DSLR-Review came to me when I started researching a purchase for my own camera. I noticed that there was a lot of information out there and there were a lot of different opinions on what would suit my needs and what would not. The information was scattered, though, and I ended up looking at a lot of different web sites for my purchasing needs. I wanted a place that had everything: reviews, opinions, user input, and the ability to purchase my camera from a web site I trusted. Since I did not find to many web sites out there like that I decided to create my own.
DSLR-Review will be your life jacket when you jump in the deep end. There are a lot of first time DSLR camera buyers out there who have never purchased a DSLR camera before and when they purchase one they will want to keep it for a good many years. I owned by SLR 35mm camera for over 20 years. If you take the time and purchase a high-quality product, odds are you will own this product for years to come.
DSLR-Review is going to be a work in progress.
Why? Simply because I am just starting this web site and new technology comes out every day. It will take me a while to get enough content on this site where I will be happy. Once I reach this point odds are the market will have changed and new models will be out with more pixels, more features, more memory capabilities, and better functionality.
I want DSLR-Review to grow and expand with new technologies. Who knows, in 20 years I may be reviewing cameras you install into your eyes or that picks up brain wave patterns of your eyes. It is an exciting world out there that changes every day and DSLR-Review wants to be a part of this changing landscape.
